ABOUT
Twenty years at life’s thresholds
From birth work to therapy
MY PATH
01
Birth work
I started as a doula and childbirth educator in New York City in the early 2000’s. Sitting with people through one of life’s biggest transitions taught me that things rarely go as planned, and that people are more capable than they believe they are. We learn and stretch our capacity and resilience in the midst of adversity.
02
Building and teaching
I founded the Village Wellness Project and later Expecting(NYC), and spent more than a decade as faculty with the Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, training hundreds of doulas.
03
Therapy
I went on to become a licensed marriage and family therapist. Today I see clients in my private practice and lead clinical care as Chief Clinical Officer at Calla Collective.
What I believe
Most of us are more capable than we think we are, in the midst of change. My job is to help you see that, steady yourself, and take the next step.
Hi, I’m Kristy
My approach is psychodynamic and relational, shaped by mindfulness and motivational interviewing. I’m an AAMFT Approved Supervisor, a Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting teacher and a published author in maternal health.
I hold a master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Iona University and a BA in Cultural Anthropology from Purchase College. I’m licensed in NY, NJ, MA, CT, OH, VA and FL, and see clients in person in New York and by video.
